Q. As a nurse, do I have to pay to register with Professional Healthcare Recruitment?
A. No, no fees are payable to us by employees. There are some costs charged by the regulatory bodies in the USA and the UK and there may be some costs involved in the application process, for example, if you need certified English transcripts of your educational certificates. We will explain in detail what costs are necessary, when these will be paid, and by whom. Many USA costs will be reimbursed when you arrive in the USA. We try to make the whole process as clear as possible.
Q. Will my qualification levels be good enough to work in the UK or USA?

Q. What can I do today to start to prepare for America?
A. Register to with the CGFNS. The CGFNS certificate is required by most states before you can apply for licensure. Additionally, most hospitals will require nurses to have this certificate before job offer. For more information visit www.cgfns.org.
Q. What is the CGFNS Certificate?
A. The Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) issue certificates to foreign nurses who have passed a nursing qualifying exam and fulfilled the English language requirements. The CGFNS certificate is required for US immigration, by most US state Nursing Boards, as well as by many US hospitals. We strongly recommend all candidates who want to nurse in the US to take the exam, which only happens 3 times per year. For more information visit www.cgfns.org.
Q. What is NCLEX?
A. Every Nurse in America must pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) to receive an RN licence. This exam is only given in the US and US territories. To be eligible to take the NCLEX, you must apply to the Board of Nursing of the state in which you are going to practice. Professional Healthcare Recruitment can help you with this process and with all examination preparation.
Q. Do I have to be a registered General Nurse to qualify for an American nursing licence?
A. Yes. All nurses in America are trained to a general level. If you are a RMN, RSCN, Midwife etc, you will need to become Double Trained in order to qualify.
Q. Is my English good enough?
A. You need to take the TOEFL/TSE test for the USA or the IELTS test for the UK or USA unless you received your nursing education in Australia, Canada, Ireland, NZ or UK. We would recommend enrolling on an English language course as soon as possible, if you are unsure. We can also introduce you to English language schools which can help improve your English. Q. What English Language scores are required for the TOEFL/TSE or IELTS exams?
A. For the UK you need a general IELTS score of 6.5 and no lower then 5.5 in any section. For the US you must get a TOEFL score of 207 and TSE of 50. Alternatively, for the US, you must have an IELTS Academic score of 6.5 with 7.0 speaking.
Q. What if I already have an NMC decision letter?
A. We are unable to assist you until you have full NMC Registration.

Q. How long will it take to get to the UK?
A. It depends. If you have done the IELTS then you could be there within 6 months. If not, then probably about a year.
Q. How long will it take to get to the USA?
A. It varies, but we will get you there as fast as possible. Typically, if you have done the CGFNS, then it should take less than 12 months.
Q. What are the rates of pay in the US?
A. You will be earning approximately $20-$45 per hour. This will depend on where you are and the exact job you do. Additionally, there are many benefits, including shift differential, overtime pay, educational assistance and more.
Q. What are the rates of pay in the UK?
A. In Britain nursing pay is in the range of $14 - $21 per hour. The exact level depends on your speciality and level of experience. UK nursing pay rates
Q. Why do I need the VisaScreen Certificate?
A. In order to be eligible for a Green Card you must obtain a Visascreen certificate issued by CGFNS. This is proof that you have met the federal requirements for entry and employment to the United States. We can help you get this.
